In the middle of all that chitchat, there it was. A meeting.

Every week I meet up with Sandra, my fellow co-founder of Klaus and Fritz. We call it our editorial meeting, and sure we go through the planned posts for the upcoming weeks + any other things we need to discuss. But probably around half the time is spent just talking. About our lives, ideas, plans and challenges. I wouldn’t call it very efficient, but it’s always really, really nice.

We tend to meet up at different cafes. Partly because we then can feature them on said site, but also because, well, it’s so darn nice. This week we headed to Wall 280 in Balaclava, sipped on our chai lattes and weren’t quiet a single moment. Just like it should be.

A Tuesday in pictures

Melbourne really knows how to welcome back a gal. Brisbane was great and all, but Melbourne truly has my heart. On Monday when I got back it was all blue skies and 28 degrees and I met up with the hubby for a picnic dinner.

Tuesday didn’t disappoint either. Some morning work followed by a second breakfast and our weekly Klaus and Fritz editorial meeting.

Who said one breakfast is enough?

It was too warm for a regular chai latte so I got one on ice instead.

My second breakfast company.

After brekkie I headed into the city and worked for a few hours. For some reason I haven’t been at my office for quite some time, and I need to get back into my routine. At 5 sharp I packed up my stuff and headed downstairs to meet up this fabulous lady.

We made our way to Cookie for some cocktails and food.

I hate whisky but love whisky cocktails, so that’s what I opted for.

The menu had too many items that sounded far too nice. It wasn’t all that easy to pick.

Ange went for some fancy salad…

…and I was a wee bit boring and had a tofu pad thai. Bah, who cares, it was bloody awesome. Without blood that is.

My nail polish matched the napkins PERFECTLY. I was a bit ecstatic.

We were supposed to go to an art opening of some sorts after dinner, but we headed the wrong way and missed it. We didn’t worry too much and made our way to Neapoli, just off Bourke street, instead.

We had some wine and a banana soufflé which was absolutely divine.

Then we biked home, trying to keep up some sort of conversation while biking ahead/behind of each other down St Kilda Road. We might have come across like mad women to the people around us, but hey, I suppose that’s just us.

Days like this just makes me swoon over Melbs more. I just hope the heat can come back to stay soon. Because even though Monday and Tuesday were great, Wednesday and Thursday surely weren’t….

It’s silly how green this tree is

On Friday me and Sandra, the other half of Klaus and Fritz, were out taking pictures for a future projects. On our way we encountered this tree. I know I’ve posted quite a bit greenery lately but I DON’T CARE. This is the first winter I have had to live through in three years and I am over the moon that it’s finally over. Deal with it.

But look at the colours of this tree. Isn’t it silly? Can a tree really be this green? I lighted up the image slightly, but that’s all I’ve done. Essentially SLR #nofilter. Omfg etc.

Sorry bloggy, I’ll try to do better by you

You’d think I have almost forgotten about this blog. Rest assured, I haven’t. I have just been super busy lately. With what you ask? First of all I have moved into a new office. Working all alone from home hasn’t been my key to success. Can you blame me? Now I have my own desk at a cute little shared office in the middle of CBD. Only backside so far: it’s on the 7th floor and the elevator is being refurbished for another 7 weeks. On the other hand – it’s a great way to get some exercise.

I have also done a crazy amount of socialising, compared to before. And I’m sorry little blog, but the chance of an hour filled with chitchat and a beer always trumps an hour in front of my computer.

Back with a b(all)oom!

I know I’ve been eerily quiet the last few days but I’ve been busy, ok? It’s like I have forgotten what it feels like but been thrown in the deep end of the pool. Don’t take it wrong though – I’m loving every second of it. Somehow it feels like being me again. And for some reason it seems like I can only be somewhat structured when I have a lot on my plate. Not enough things to do and I start slacking straight away like a crazy person. Add almost more than I can handle and my head starts bubbling with ideas, my mood improves and I feel excited.

With that said, here’s a picture of what I’ve been up to today. What have you been doing?

Spring Bloom in Ballarat

Yesterday we rented a car, stowed in a couple of really great friends and drove up to Ballarat. The goal of the journey: Ballarat Art Gallery for an art exhibition opening. One of the awesome friends in the car, Nina, had a video that was part of the exhibition. I’ll share a few snaps of the trip tomorrow. For now you’ll have to settle for this short video of the absolutely amazing blooms on the trees outside the art gallery. There were about 10 of them, all in full bloom and it was absolutely magical standing underneath them and looking up.

Say hello to my office

As I am a freelancer I spend most of my days at home. In the beginning I used to sit at the kitchen table or in the sofa and work, but that’s not really working (pun intended!) in the long run. When my parents came and visited us for a whopping six weeks last fall I took the opportunity to have him build a custom desk that fits perfectly in the window nook in our spare bedroom, aka my office.

This is where I’m sitting right now, typing away. Although I’m not using that big pilates ball as a chair. It was a temporary solution as I couldn’t find a good office chair that was high enough. Now I have another temporary solution instead…

And I know, I really need to deal with that cable chaos going on. I’ll leave that for a later day.

As the windows face the small street we live on, I decided to put up some plastic film on the windows. And yes, the text on top of the image is Swedish. It means “my projects” and for some reason I only had a picture of this with the text on it? Bad me.

Before I put up the film I felt a bit bad about sitting here. I felt watched whenever someone passed by and got disturbed in my concentration. The windows also works as a personal kanban board to see what’s going on right now in my freelance life.

130829_Office-2On the desk I have the office supplies I use often – mainly pens, my zillion todo lists and the black notes. I just love those black notes. I took these pictures a little while ago and the pen collection has just exploded. Right now it feels like I have a bit of a pen shop going on at the side of the table. I really should do something about that. It’s not like I use anything but the black gel pens from Muyi anyway…

In between moments

This has been a busy week. A very busy week indeed. New projects starting and current projects in full swing. Somewhere in the middle of this I’m trying to keep some sort of social life.

To say I’m tired is an understatement. Or actually, I’m not so much tired as I’m buzzed. For this first time in my life I’m actually having a bit of trouble sleeping because the head is going crazy bouncing off ideas.

Unfortunately this means I haven’t taken my new camera for a proper spin. All I have to show for a weeks ownership is some random pictures from details that I have passed by the last few days. Like the sky that was amazing tonight, the pigeons on the structure above South Yarra Station and the most bewildering and beautiful tree in a backyard of a house around the corner.

Sunday list

Which is the best combination of two things that you know?
Right now I’d go with either sunshine + a pitcher of mojitos or heating + chai latte. I see a pattern here.

What did you do for exactly five months later?
My parents were here and we all were a bit hungover after our Sunday outing (which included horses, wine and beer). Dad made me a table and I got really, really mad because it ended up a bit too yellow. Note to self; don’t have your parents staying with you for more than two weeks at a time.

When were you last jealous of anyone?
Mid last week when I friend landed a job in such a short time. Impressed and a bit envious. I miss having colleagues.

Do you have anything unnecessary you do?
Yes, a lot. Sleeping for one. At least 8 hours per day. And watch a lot of really crappy tv shows. I should know better.

Can you show a picture of something really great?
I can’t pick just one thing, that’s just impossible, so here’s a selection.

01-04-masbuttassar Dogs, or other cute animals. Specially when they put their paws on you and want to be scratched behind their ears.
03-03-landskap2 Summers in Sweden. I wish I had a night time photo though, but I can’t be bothered looking.
04-05-papiihavet Family (and friends, but hey, I don’t have any decent photos of them). Preferably on a beach in Ghana.

What’s the worst thing this week?
I went out for drinks with a friend on Friday. It was an amazing night but unfortunately a bottle broke in my bag and broke my camera, garage remote and completely ruined my wallet. Did I mention that I dropped my phone (which I do at least once a week) but this time the screen broke. Great night that ended in an epic fail. :/

What are you planning to do the rest of the days this week?
It’s the last day of the week, silly! And I plan to stay right here on the couch until it’s time for bedtime. Mmmm, couch.

When did you last have pulpitations?
Can’t remember. Now I feel like I don’t have enough excitement in my life. Note to self: do something really scary soon.

What are you going to do this fall?
It’s not fall here, it’s spring! I’m going to start gardening and keep on running. And be a bit more structured about channeling my creativity.

Do you have any plans for the end of the summer?
End of winter you mean? Well, no. I’m surprisingly plan-less and I’m loving it.

What is the weirdest thing you have done for love?
I would love to say I’ve done something really odd but I can’t remember anything? I’m either a very boring person or just sane. With that said, I would do anything for this man. I mean, I even promised to clean for him (yes, that was my vow).

What should you do but can’t muster the energy to actually do?
Live by a schedule! So hard when you’re all on your own and don’t have a team that you can seep up some energy from when you need it.

What do you have in your fridge?
Cheese, wine, water, eggs, apples and strawberries. Always.

Can you give us a teaser for a coming blog post?

List from Niotillfem.

Banana Pancakes

I have started trying to be more healthy. Or actually, I am healthier nowadays. I’m not on any diet, because diets are just asking for trouble. I’m just eating more sensibly (both contents and portions) and I’ve started to jog. Well I’m not sure you could call it a jog yet. I’m more like a slouch, but I get out and just do it. But we’re not here to talk about my do’s or don’ts when it comes to running. We’re here to read about the simplest pancake recipe ever. Yes, ever. I can vouch for that.

Because of this healthiness craze, I’m eating boiled eggs and strawberries for breakfast. Yes I know it sounds odd and I’m not saying you need to eat it. It works for me. But it can become a bit boring. So when I stumbled on this recipe on a few swedish blogs I just had to do it.

And it’s not just simple, it’s also delicious.

Banana Pancakes
Makes 2.

2 eggs
1 banana
just a wee bit of butter for the frying pan
Strawberries (or jam) to serve it with

1. Peel the banana and mush it up in a bowl. Make sure it’s proper ripe, as it’ll mix better.

2. Once it’s all nice and mushy, mix in the two eggs.

3. Heat up a pan and put in a bit of butter (or oil, if that’s your thing). When it’s warm put in half of the batter and fry it on each side until it gets a bit of colour.

4. While waiting to flip, chop up the strawberries into more manageable pieces.

5. Place the pancakes on a plate and put the strawberries on top so it looks artistic. I.e. not like this, because it’s a bit of a mess. I didn’t care much for the look of it this morning though as I was famished after my jog.
